District Wushu champion concludes in Srinagar

Gindun Wushu Academy lifts trophy

Srinagar, Nov 15: The Two day District Wushu championship 2021 concluded on Monday with Gindun Wushu Academy winning overall medal tally while New Convent High School, Gogji Bagh remaining runner up here at Gindun Complex Rajbagh.
 
Around 200 Wushu players across district Srinagar from various clubs and schools in both Boys and Girls including Mini, Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior category participated in the event. 
Gindun Wushu Academy won the overall championship trophy while New Convent High School , Gogji Bagh  won runner up trophy.
 
On the Valedictory function, SSP SDRF Haseeb ul Rehman was the chief guest, while SSP Masroof ,  Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar Manager Gindun Ground , Sadat Aslam Wan vice President Wushu Association of J&K , and Nisar Hussain (President Awardee) were the guest of honors.
Zeenat Zeshan Fazil , Basit Khan,  Ajaz Hassan, Rameez Ahmed, Irfan Ahmed, Zahoor Ahmed Bhat, Irfan Ali, Omar Bhat and General Secretary District Wushu Association Srinagar Maqsood Rather were other dignitaries present at the occasion.
 
While giving Awards to the winning players Haseeb Ul Rehman, during his speech, appreciated the efforts of District Wushu Association for organizing the Wushu championship in Covid -19, following the guidelines of the government and making the youth of District Srinagar fit and boosting their morale.
 
He encouraged the winners during the function and appealed to the youth of J&K to adopt sports, as sports is the only medium to win the hearts of the people and these days sports has become professional where the players can earn name and fame for the country and state.
 
He also congratulated Wushu Association of J&K for their efforts for the prominence of this combat sport in the entire J&K. Rehman appealed to the government for establishing State Wushu academy as Wushu is the only sports in which they have bagged medals at the Asian Games, world championship and Asian championship. And moreover the first ever Dronacharya award, the highest award in the country for Coaches.
 
General Secretary District Association Mohammad Maqsood Rather during his welcome address congratulated all the participants and their parents for making the event a grand success. He also thanked the Chief Guest for sparing his valuable time for the function and for remaining always available for the prominence of Wushu sports in Srinagar.
He also thanked the J & K Sports Council for providing the facilities to organise the championship.
The championship was organised by District Wushu Association Srinagar, under the guidelines of Wushu Association of J&K.
