Jammu, May 28: BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri Saturday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to ask the education department to revisit their decision of not including/considering distance education degrees and diplomas for promotions in the education department.
In a statement, he said that this wrong decision taken by previous governments should be undone as J&K has now become a Union Territory and like other UTs, distance education must be considered as valid degrees.
Suri said that the recently issued promotion lists of lecturers in education department is sans those candidates who are qualified but from universities that offer distance education degrees.
The same degrees, he added, are valid in other states and Union Territories of India, where people are getting recruitments and promotions based on these degrees and diplomas.
