Srinagar, June 30: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, has said that the growth and development in Jammu Kashmir was not limited to just Jammu or Srinagar cities only but is also visible in remote villages.
He said that developmental gap between the cities and remote village stands bridged as government is focussing on holistic development in the UT.
LG said this at the Zee Salaam Conclave titled “Emerging Jammu Kashmir” held to confer awards to individuals for their exemplary services in various fields.
During the function, Dr Abid Jan was awarded ‘Best Men's Health Expert Doctor of J&K’ while Dr Shazia Shafi received ‘Best Eye Care Provider in the Valley.’ Ayaan Khan received award for being ‘Shining  Star of J&K’ while Mir Faizan was felicitated as best medical entrepreneur and Dr Kousar Bakshi got ‘India’s fastest growing entrepreneur’ award.
“Development is visible in thousands of tribal households in Pulwama, Kulgam, Rajouri, who have got their due rights on forests and its produce for the first time and children of poor tribals are studying in smart schools equipped with computers, tablets,” the LG said.
He underscored that sustained efforts have been made to eliminate corruption and bring transparency in governance in JK. “It is being ensured that every penny for public welfare is being spent rightly and account of each penny has been made available in public domain.”
Behind today’s Emerging Jammu and Kashmir, there is a fear-free, corruption-free, transparent system which has led to record completion of 51 thousand projects in the last financial year, as against only 9,229 projects in 2018-19, he said.
