Srinagar, Oct 14:  With aim to motivate and encourage disabled persons, a team of 15 riders from Delhi who reached Srinagar this evening set out for a ride to Kargil on Wednesday here at Press colony.
The group of 15 disabled riders which includes 4 women are participating in this ride to draw the attention of the authorities towards their grievances and to showcase their potential which is not less than any normal person.
The group will also hoist the flag in Kargil.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, The coordinator of the awareness rally, Social Eagle Specially abled Riders, Anooja Eagle, said that this rally is being conducted to spread awareness and to motivate persons with disabilities especially women.
“It is first of its kind that such an awareness rally is being held here,” She said, and added “I appeal to the government for supporting these disabled persons especially women with disabilities, this ride is for empowering women also.”
Another rider from Delhi, Mahee said that they are setting out for this ride to spread awareness about women empowerment.
“As we see in our society, only claims are being made by the government and people talk about rights of disabled persons and women empowerment, but nothing is being done on grass root level in this regard,” she said and added “ So we thought of holding a ride through which we can make awareness about women empowerment and motivate  them for chasing their dreams especially women’s with disabilities.”
