Budgam, Aug 06: The chairperson of the District Development Council BudgamNazir Ahmad Khan Saturday directed all the Block Development officers to create a dedicated Twitter handler and Facebook pages, so that the people can bring their grievances into their notice.
Chairperson of District Development Council BudgamNazir Ahmad Khan told Rising Kashmir that Section 4 (1) (b) of the RTI Act 2005 emphasizes voluntary disclosure of information on websites.
It has been brought to my notice that District Website Budgam is not have updated information on the PMAY beneficiaries from all the blocks of the district.
"The people also complained that the estimates approved for works are also not available in the public domain and when a Junior Engineer from Nagam block was asked to provide a copy of an estimate for a road project, but he denied that categorically that is completely against the policy of the Central government as well as Jammu and Kashmir Government," Khan said.
He said that people are being forced to use the RTI Act, 2005 to seek information and even after completing the formalities they are not being provided the information.
"It is my advice that all the estimates be kept available in the public domain on social media like Facebook pages, and Twitter handlers. All the Block Development Officers have been directed to create a dedicated Twitter Handle, and Facebook Page so that people bring their grievances to their notice," Khan said.
"An official should be assigned the task of updating these social media pages. The estimates and work orders are also updated on social media sites at the block levels," he said.
He further said that the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir had already instructed in this regard last year in January and the GAD had already issued a circular as well.
"I would suggest that a proper website will be created for the office of Assistant Commissioner Development Budgam and Assistant Commissioner PanchayatsBudgam, separately," he added.
