Cross Country Skiing Championship kicks-off in Gulmarg

Baramulla, Mar 23: The three day long National Cross Country Skiing Championship 2022 kick started on Wednesday at Gulmarg.
As per the schedule the three day cross country skiing championship started on March 23 and shall conclude on March 25 2022.
Around 110 athletes from States and Union Territories including Army Red, Army Green, ITBP, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir are participating in this event.
Olympian 2022 Mohammad Arif Khan was chief guest whereas Commandant High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) Major Gen. R.K. Singh was Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Divisional Sports officer Nuzhat Ara and other officials were also present on the occasion. Nadeem Iqbal, former Olympian was technical delegate from Ski and Snowboard India (SSI).
In 10 Km Men Senior Shubam Parihar of Army Red bagged gold whereas Stenzin Lundup of Army Red won Silver, and Thupstan Tsewang of Army Red won Bronze medal.
In the 1.5 Km Sprint Woman: Bhawani TN from Karnataka won gold whereas Prince Kumari of ITBP bagged Silver and Ragini Negi (ITBP) won Bronze medal.
In 10 Km Junior Boys Manjeet of Army Red bagged gold, Sonam Chaspal (Army Red) won Silver, and Aman Kumar (Army Red ) won Bronze medal.
The championship is being organized by Winter Games Association Jammu Kashmir (WGAJK) in collaboration with J&K sports council (JKSC) under the aegis of Ski and Snowboard India (SSI).
