Budgam Administration makes face masks mandatory in public places

BUDGAM:  Amid a sudden rise in the number of Covid-19 cases across the UT, the authorities in Budgam have made the wearing of face masks compulsory in public places across the district.
As per the official order issued by Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza reads that whereas, the covid-19 containment measures were discontinued for the past few months as there was a significant decrease in the number of covid-19 cases.
" For the past few days, there has been a sudden increase in a number of covid-19 cases. Whereas, the situation again demands strict implementation of covid-19 containment measures to curb the spread of the infection," the order said.
The order said that therefore, given the aforementioned facts I Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza  Deputy Commissioner / Chairman District Disaster Management Authority, Budgam, in the exercise of powers vested in me under section-34 of Disaster Management Act 2005, do hereby order that the wearing of face masks shall be compulsory at all public places of district Budgam, with immediate effect.  
"Moreover, all district / sectoral officers are hereby directed to ensure the wearing of face masks by all officers/officials," it said.
