Pulwama, June 27: BJP president for J&K Ravinder Raina on Monday visited Samboora village in South Kashmir's Pulwama district to pay condolences to family of slain sub inspector, Farooq Ahmad Mir.
He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members. He remembered Farooq as a brave officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police. He condemned his killing as an act of cowardice.
"He was an honest person and braveheart officer," he said, adding that he used to serve poor, destitute and needy people.
"He was an innocent person, killing a person unarmed is condemnable," he said.
"Farooq was a support to his aged father, he was bread earner for his kids," he said.
Emotional scenes were witnessed during his visit to the slain sub inspector's house.
The father and other family members of the slain police officer broke into tears and wept inconsolably.
The BJP UT chief stayed with the family for an hour during which he cajoled the grieving father of the slain police sub inspector.
Rana was accompanied by other BJP leaders during his Samboora visit including party general secretary, Sunil Sharma and spokesperson, Altaf Thakur.
The off-duty police sub inspector was shot dead on June 18 when he was tending his paddy fields.
