BGSBU organises workshop on ‘mental health and drug addiction’

Rajouri, April 23: Centre for Hospitality and Tourism, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri organised a workshop on Mental health and drug addiction.
The one-day workshop provided an overview of mental health issues, drug addiction, impacts of addiction to the family, treatment & recovery.
This workshop also explored how to know if someone may have a problem with alcohol &/or drugs & how to provide support.
Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Prof. Akbar Masood lauded the department for organizing the workshop and said that such type of interactions help in spreading awareness among the youth.
He in his message described mental health as an essential part of the well-being of an individual, family and community. Prof. Akbar mentioned that good mental health helps people to build resilience in the times of adversities and enhances individual and collective productivity.
He stressed upon the participants to help in eradicating the menace of drug abuse from society.
Dr. Imran Khan , NeuroPsychiatrist and De addiction specialist was the resource person for the workshop. Dr. Imran highlighted the role of parents and friends in helping the youth to defeat this menace which is eating the vitals of our society.
Dr. Imran said substance abuse leads to impaired control, disabilities and a negative social image.Dr.Imran spoke on the importance of health and happiness of all young people and to turn them away from drug abuse.
Dr. Danish Iqbal Raina, Deputy Director Centre for Hospitality and Tourism said that the workshop was part of a mental health awareness campaign and prevention of drug abuse among the youth.
