BGSBU celebrates Engineer’s Day

Jammu, Sep 19: School of Engineering and Technology, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri celebrated the Engineer's day by organising a series of events.
The day is basically celebrated to recognize and honour the great achievements and innovations of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who received India's highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955.
On this occasion, Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University and Prof. Me'rajUd Din Mir, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir and Prof. Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academics BGSBU, visited the exhibition of projects developed by students of School of Engineering and technology. Prof. Masood applauded the teachers of School of Engineering and Technology, BGSB University for organizing the series of events.
Prof. Akbar highlighted the contribution of engineers to the society and discussed their role in the structural development of the world. He said everyone should take inspiration from the life of civil engineer M Visvesvaraya, who always gave importance to time and discipline.
A webinar was also organized on 18th September 2021 to celebrate the occasion. About 70 participants consisting of Faculty members, Research Scholars and Students from various departments across the school joined and actively participated in the event. The webinar has provided an opportunity for engineering students to discuss and debate the role of engineers in society. Engineers have a strong relation with the society and to uphold this relationship in a best possible way is the core responsibility of an engineer.
Prof. Asif Hussain, Dean School of Engineering and Technology threw light on the theme of the webinar. Er. Malik Mubasher Hassan, Principal University Polytechnic, presented the welcome address. Er. Furqan Khan, Practice Head (Offensive security) at DU Telecom Dubai, an alumnus of the Dept. of ITE, BGSBU was the invited resource person of this Webinar. He shared his journey from engineering student to Practice Head at a leading Telecom provider in Dubai. He motivated the students by sharing the real-life story of “Washington Augustus Roebling”for supervising the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, which was initially designed by his father John A. Roebling. The talk was followed by a question & answer session. Dr. Manmeet Singh, Coordinator of the Webinar presented a formal vote of thanks.
