As Eid approaches, trade & business communities anticipate surge in sales

Srinagar, July 07: With just a couple of days left for Eid-Ul-Adha celebrations, traders and business establishment owners in Srinagar on Thursday said that sales for Eid have been on the lower side so far, but expressed hope of witnessing more sales in the remaining days.
Nazir Ahmad, president Sheri-Khaas-Association in downtown Srinagar said that the sales are not on the higher side and as per expectations on the eve of Eid but said they are still some hope of getting good business for the remaining days.
“Till yesterday market was on picking up, but from today footfall of Eid shoppers are being witnessed and sales are also picking and we hope for remaining two days, there will be more addition in the business”, he said.
Another senior trader leader however expressed that the market has been on the lower side in terms of shopping and said unless a miracle nothing much can be achieved in the remaining two days.
Faisal Ahmad who owns a shop at a famous mall in Srinagar said that his outlets are witnessing a good flow of customers saying the people are coming for shopping at his store.
“We deal in kids and women’s wear and we are witnessing a reasonable Eid shopping at both the stores, however, I don’t know about other people If they are getting any good sales or not”, he said.
Another trader leader told Rising Kashmir that the feedback they are getting from the traders is not encouraging, saying that most of the Eid stock still lies unsold but expressed hope that the remaining two days of recording, further increase in sales.
