Srinagar, June 22: Apni Party (AP) state secretary MuntazirMohi-ud-din Wednesday expressed concern over harsh weather conditions and hulking rains which have affected the local masses in central Kashmir’s Soibugh and adjoining areas. He demanded compensation for the affected people and said that the administration needs to gear up to provide support and rehabilitation for the sufferers.
In a statement issued here, Muntazir also expressed his concern for the nomads from Ashtar and adjoining areas and said that the unexpected snowfall in the upper reaches of Budgam has created a very harsh situation for nomads affecting their livelihood.
He said most of the nomads have lost their sheep to unprecedented weather conditions and unexpected snowfall. He also urged the administration to rescue the families and shift them to safer areas.
"Kashmir all across is facing very harsh weather conditions and has affected the nomads' families to a larger extent. The unexpected snowfall has caused the death of livestock of these nomad families,” Muntazir said.
“Such families need to be shifted to safer places immediately. At the same time, the local inhabitants of Soibugh areas should also be given compensation and immediate help from the administration. I hope the authorities would intervene in these matters on a priority basis,” Apni Party leader added.
