Advanced Cardiac Surgery performed in Srinagar hospital

Srinagar, July 27: A rare and complicated ‘Advanced Cardiac Surgery for the treatment of a 39-year-old patient was performed at Srinagar hospital on Wednesday, officials said.
The surgery was performed by Noora Hospital’s Heart Team by Dr. Zubair Rashid, after careful evaluation and weighing the risks and benefits of the surgery.
He said one case done last week in Noora Hospital. The patient was a 39-year-old lady with Rheumatic Heart disease with open heart surgery was done outside the valley in 2006 and a tissue valve was implanted.
“Since the Tissue valve lasts only 10 to 15 years, she required another surgery for the same valve. REDO mitral valve replacement was at hospital and patient was sent home happy seven days after the procedure,” Dr. Zubair said.
He said now patients of the valley does not require to travel outside the valley, for treatment, with huge costs of corporate hospitals, draining their financial resources.
“Cardiac procedures, particularly surgical, have the same results and risks in all parts of the Country, provided, done accordingly to guidelines and following proper protocols as recommended,:Dr. Zubair said.
He said with the PM’s Ayushmann Bharat scheme, all advanced cardiac procedures can be done under it , so that , even those not affording patients can avail of the benefits.
