A Tribute to Er Javid Ahmed Shahmiri

He was an engineer par excellence, simple pious human being, a mentor and guide to all his colleagues

Er Javid Ahmed Shahmiri was born in the year 1938 and after graduating in Civil Engineering in Panjab Engineering College Chandigarh joined services of J&K Government as Assistant Engineer Civil. Mr Shahmiri served in various capacities like Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Chief Project Engineer, Chief Engineer in various Hydel Projects of the then J&K State like Upper Sindh Hydel Project Sumbal, Lower Jehlum Hydel Project Baramulla, Salal Hyroelectric Project, Uri Hydroelectric Project, Dulhasti Hydro Electric Project and finally became Managing Director Of J&K State Power Development Corporation.
 
Mr J.A. Shahmiri was honest to core and devoted his whole service career selflessly for development of Hydro Power Sector in J&K. Prestigious Baglihar Hydroelectric Project is also his contribution to J&K. Being an efficient Hydro Power Engineer and a scrupulously honest engineer Mr J.A. Shahmiri was reemployed first as Chairman of Board of Professional Entrance Examinations J&K and then again as Managing Director Of J&K State Power Development Corporation. 
 
He was an engineer par excellence, simple pious human being, a mentor and guide to all his colleagues. By his demise on 16th August 2021 at U.S.A, engineering fraternity of J&K has lost one of the torch bearers as his dedication and honesty not only inspired hundreds of engineers but also elevated the status of engineers in general.
 
Mr Shahmiri is survived by his wife Mrs Ismet Shahmiri, an engineer son Mr Irfan Shahmiri, Mrs Nahira Shahmiri Buch; daughter, grandsons and granddaughters.
