6 day long Urs Shah-e-Hamdan (RA) commences with religious fervor

Srinagar, July 01: The annual Urs of Hazrat Shahi Hamdan(RA) commenced on Friday at Khanqah-i-Moula, Ziyarat of Hazrat Amir-e-Kabir Shah-e-Hamadan(RA) in the downtown area of Srinagar.
The six day long Urs witnesses the special prayers and supplications along with special prayers during daily five time prayers.
An official from the Waqf Board told Rising Kashmir that all arrangements at Shrine are in place and in view of the heat they have also made the arrangements for tents and drinking water for devotees.
“Waqf Board has placed all arrangements for the devotees and in view of the intense heat tents have been erected for devotees visiting the shrine during six day long Urs”, he said.
The official added that during the ‘Khatmaat and Moazmaat’, special prayers from afternoon prayers to evening prayers drinking water has also been made available for devotees.
As per the officials of the Waqf Board 5th Zilhaj will witness night long prayers following which sixth Zilhaj will mark congregational prayers as devotees from across the Kashmir are expected to offer prayers on that day.
“Sound system, electricity availability including it’s back up, lighting, flooring and other necessary arrangements have been placed for devotees”, the officials added.
The first day of the Urs witnessed a huge rush of devotees at the shrine with various road side vendors placing their commodities for sale.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Thursday this week visited the Khanqah-i-Moula, Ziyarat of Hazrat Amir-e-Kabir Shah-e-Hamadan(RA) in Shahr-e-Khaas to take stock of the arrangements being made to facilitate devotees during Urs days.
Deputy Commissioner had instructed all the concerned Departments to ensure adequate arrangements for smooth observance of the Urs and had directed the officers of PDD to ensure availability of 24X7 uninterrupted power supply at the Shine.
Similarly, PHE authorities were also directed to ensure continued drinking water supply besides arrangements for a water tanker facility at the Shrine during Urs days.
