Budgam, Aug 13:The Panchayat Ghar for the Churmujroo village in Central Kashmiri’s Budgam district has not been completed by the concerned department for the last 09 years in the area.
The locals of the village told the Rising Kashmir the construction work of the panchayat ghar was started in the year 2012. However, the work on the panchayat ghar has not been completed by the concerned department till now.
Ghulam Rasool Dar, one of the residents of the Churmujroo village, said that the panchayat is an important institution in the village. Due to the incomplete work of the panchayat ghar in the area, they are conducting panchayat-related programmes in different locations of the area.
“The government have built the panchayat ghar in every village of the Budgam district, but in our village, the work of the panchayat ghar is still pending for the last nine years,” Dar said.
Mohd Amin, another resident, said the people did not have any kind of facility in the village where people can discuss village-related issues with the government officials. We had to sit in the open field due to the incomplete work on the panchayat Ghar.
"The condition of the walls of the Panchayat Ghar is worsening by the day due to rainfall and snowfall as there is no roof, not even a slab, over them," he said.
He said that due to the incomplete work, the panchayat body had to discuss village-related issues and development work in the panchayat Ghar. But the people are attending it in the open field as there is no other facility in the village.
" We have already requested the concerned officials from time to time regarding this issue. But unfortunately, no necessary steps have been taken to complete the pending work of the panchayat Ghar," he added.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Beerwah, Shakeel Ahmad said that he will look into the matter and necessary steps will be taken regarding the pending work of the panchayat Ghar.
